Welcome Geoff,
I love Rockabilly and I'm a massive fan of Johnny Burnette.
Keep on rockin' matey!

Welcome Gundog,
What's in your bass collection, are you in a band and what kind of music are you in to?

Being a bit of a big boy..... I would have had a XXL off you if you'd had any and although I'm a massive fan of black, I would have given orange a go.
By the way, happy New Year Ped!

I'm playing tonight at a private party. It's going to be quite a challenge though. I'm guesting on rhythm g**tar with another local band and I've only got a couple of hours to learn the songs! It can't be that hard can it?
I can't even have a lot to drink as I've got to get up for work at 5.45am!
Have a great time tonight folks,

Welcome WHUFC BASS,
From a Stoke fan...... what the hell was Fuller doing slapping Griffin in public?!?!? why couldn't he have waited till after the match?
Good luck for the rest of the season and keep on blowing them bubbles.
Oh by the way, I love the brace of Thunderbirds..... have you still got them?

Welcome.
I love Italy.
Monopoli (is there only one? ).... now that's a great place to come from!
I bet the weather is better than here in GB.

I went on Saturday.
I always go to Music Live and this was the worst one I've ever been to......
except for one thing..... T M Stevens playing with Swans in Flight.
The bloke is unbelievable!! It was worth the £17 to see him play.
Tune-o-matic... he's renowned for it.
His definition of '100% original' is quite often different to what the likes of you or I would think.
Did that bloke from Burton on Trent ever get anywhere with his crusade about the dodgy Candy Apple Red Jazz?

The Pirates in Leicester this Saturday (25th).
My favourite band.
Good old (Doctor Feelgood type) R n B played by blokes (except for the drummer) who are older than me!
Anybody else like this kind of music?
Mart. -
Yes......
I've got a company car, but if you take the current value of the vehicle, then the basses still win.

Welcome back Chris.... with you and the Buxton Bloke (presoulnation) back in the fold things are finally back to normal.
Happy days!

I've got a Martin B1 acoustic bass that urgently needs a change of strings (they are as dead as a wotsit).
They can be no heavier than medium gauge (according to the info on the inside of the soundhole).
Any ideas on the best strings to use and where to get them from?
Thanks,
Mart. -
Most ABBA songs have great bass lines...... but I just don't like the songs.

Sad news.
I don't think I ever met Steve, but when people post on Basschat, you kinda feel that you know them.... if you know what I mean.
Sincere condolences,

For me it would have to be my very first proper amp and cab, a Davoli valve 100 watt head and a home made cab that was loaded with a Fane 18" speaker.
The sound was awesome!
It did have one problem with it though, it used to move around 'stage' quite a lot when I was pushing it to the max .
I sold the cab in 1976 for £20 and broke up the amp after it stopped working (probably just needed re-valving).
What an idiot I was....
pm'd back.
This is really sad, but does the 7750 bit of your user name have anything to do with you watch movement?
John,
I've got a Breitling Avenger Skyland with the Caliber 13, which as we all know has the ValJoux 7750 as it's base movement.... stonking

They (Spear) are made in the far east and are ideal for Seoul music.
Good if you fancy a Korea move.

Welcome from another 'picky' person who comes from the north of the fine county of Staffordshire.....
I'm a bit older than 22 though and certainly not a lady!

Welcome from another elderly gent!
So true - esp with Fenders. Any other guitar, people expect them to be as-new when they're second hand, whereas Fenders almost have to come with a few dents and dings. I guess that comes from them being thought of as "vintage".
In short - dent it up a bit more!
+1
Totally agree

Nice one Linus27,
I really liked that mate.

I am a lead vocalist who plays bass, in fact I have been for the last nine years or so.
I tend to concentrate on my vocals and do the bass playing on autopilot. The problem is, is that if I think about my bass playing then I tend to mess up the vocals!
Before I started the lead vocal thing I was a bass player who sang backing vocals. During this period the bands that I played with did original(i.e. no covers) music, so to a certain extent, my vocals fitted in with moments when I was doing the less complicated bass work.
I think that since I've been stuck behind the mic my bass playing has suffered, don't get me wrong, I was never a brilliant bassist, but I did use to get compliments about my playing (so I must have been doing something right).
I must admit that lately I have been thinking about being a bass player/backing vocalist again, but for the time being it's vocals and far too many root notes for me.
So to answer the original post Galilee, at this moment in time I'd probably want people to think of me as a great vocalist and great bassist, however nobody has said either to me yet...... I live in hope

Hey Thunderthumbs, any chance of doing the same thing with the '76 Precision (black/maple if I remember rightly)?
