I've got a copy of 'The Art of Inlay' by Larry Robinson (2005 edition) in good condition for sale. This is the one with a picture of a Martin guitar on the front.

I should say when I did this before it was on a cheap bass! If it had been some thing other than that I would have used a radius block.....

In my opinion, I reckon if you trim the veneer back to almost flush with a Stanley blade carefully then use a firm sanding block with some very fine paper sanding along the length of the neck you should be okay. I use radius blocks for new builds when starting with a flat board but think you should be okay being careful with a normal block for this. I have done this once before and it was fine.

Yamaha - GONE

Westfield junior/shortscale P-bass. Seemed to be aimed at kids; I got this for my son but he had no interest (time for a DNA test I think...). Bass is in excellent condition and still has protective film on scratchplate and comes in original box. It's red with a white scratch plate. Scale length is about 25" so is most suitable for kids, shorter folk or as a travel bass. Asking [s]£60[/s] [s]£50[/s] £45 for this

Would prefer pickup from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. Drop a line if you have any questions.

Finally finished this build - really chuffed with it so far but only played it quietly for a short time.

Looks very nice!

And not to forget the USA made SUB Sterling.....in the same way the USA SUB is a cheaper version of the 'ray, the USA SUB Sterling is a cheaper version of the Sterling. Same sort of differences as the other USA SUB basses (no contouring, textured finish) but has 3 band eq but no pickup switch.

You don't tend to see many USA SUB Sterlings around. I really like mine - sounds great and I prefer the thinner neck on the Sterling. I got GAS for USA SUB basses a few years ago and bought three; 4 string, 5 string and the Sterling!!

Watch the 'for sale' section in the near future, I'm considering selling the 4 string USA SUB (blue one in my profile picture) because I always use the Sterling and it doesn't get used. I was going to sell it a year or two back but when I played it again, I really enjoyed it. That might well happen again!!!

Cheers for the info. Hadn't really considered Shroeder cabs - will have find one to give a try. I do like the MB200 so will look at others in the range.

I currently have two Ashdown mini cabs (1x15 and 4x8), a GK MB200 and an Ashdown ABM Evo ii 500 head. I fancy a bit of a change......

The current set-up isn't too big and fits quite easily in my Ford Ka (one cab ad the ABM head fits perfectly in the boot). I am finding myself looking at possible single cab solutions but also possibly changing the head as I tend to use the MB200 all the time. The set-up is just for a covers band and pub gigs so my two cabs is probably overkill as it is!!

I'm thinking of:

1. Changing the ABM head for an EBS Reidmar and keeping the cabs
2. Changing the lot for a Markbass CMD151P
3. Get a different 4ohm cab for the MB200
4. Keep what I've got and go to the pub

Any suggestions?

I'd also like to add my thanks to Si600 and Roland Rock or organising his event - much appreciated.

I haven't been to one before but will definitely going again. It was a really was nice to meet such a friendly bunch of folk and to see and try out various different amps and basses - there was quite an array of completely different kit!

I must admit, I particularly liked Nick's 5 string MTD and TC rig but there was also Wil's Status/Warmoth jazz and PJB cabs, Prime_bass's set-up, 72Delux's Warwicks and playing, Matt's Gretsch Baritone and numerous others.

And not to forget a delicious slice of orange cake (really was [u]very[/u] nice)!!

Cheers. Not completely decided on the finish but leaning towards a water based gloss lacquer for the body. I've used the satin version before and that seems good so might give the gloss a try; I will use satin on the neck though,

I got the body and neck wood from Nugget - the body wood was a trade but the neck wood was ordered with some wood Nugget was buying for himself. I'll try to find the details of the seller and forward it to you as the wood is lovely and was reasonably priced. Seem to remember it costing about £50 but I got two necks out of it.

Looking forward to trying the Delano pickups!!

Finally getting on with this build!

Routing is complete for neck pocket, control cavity, bridge, tail piece and pick ups. I've rounded the body edges but still have some body contouring to do followed by lots of sanding!!

Ah yes, that body is a lovely piece of wood ad might just might look very similar to the wood on a bass you made!!

The neck wood might also look familiar.......

The LEDs are some surface mount ones soldered onto some stripboard to make them easier t wire up. They're a right pain to solder as each one is only about 2mm x 2.5mm and require some patience. The side dots are done using some 1mm diameter fiber optic cable with some heat shrink sleeving around it to make it look tidy. I'll try and add some more photos and explanation later.
