2. Ah yes, that body is a lovely piece of wood ad might just might look very similar to the wood on a bass you made!!

The neck wood might also look familiar.......

The LEDs are some surface mount ones soldered onto some stripboard to make them easier t wire up. They're a right pain to solder as each one is only about 2mm x 2.5mm and require some patience. The side dots are done using some 1mm diameter fiber optic cable with some heat shrink sleeving around it to make it look tidy. I'll try and add some more photos and explanation later.

    Cheers

  3. I've put bass build #4 on hold for a while as I've started another build!! This one will have a rippled ash body, flamed maple neck and an ebony fretboard. There will be a Warwick 2 piece bridge, Delano hybrid pickup, 2 band eq and green LED edge fret markers.

I've made new templates for making this. So far the body blank is marked out, the neck rough cut and the truss road fitted and the LEDs have been installed into the fretboard. On a previous build, I fitted LEDs to the face of the fretboard but this time I'm fitting them on the side.

  4. Bought a pair of pickups off Lee for a project. Well packaged and posted quickly. He even chucked in a second set of pickups which he thought I might be able to make use of - really generous. Thanks again.

  5. Another easy transaction with Martin. Top bloke, friendly, pays when he says. I would always deal with him without hesitation.

As he says 'No problems here'!!!

    Have a great Christmas!

    Cheers

  6. Various bits and pieces for sale...couple of items gone

[s]2 sets of Schaller 445 nickel strap locks. Packets have been opened but not fitted. £7 each plus £2 post[/s]

Jazz bass bell control plate. No idea what bass this came from but seems standard. A couple of very fine surface scratches. £3 plus £1 postage

Levy’s M1FS Leather flaming skull guitar strap. Used but good condition (came with a bass I bought but not really my thing!). Strap looks like this http://www.stringsdi...-flaming-skull/ £5 plus £2 postage.

[s]Daphon Wah-Wah pedal. Basic pedal – not really been used. Only bought it as I was going to strip it down and use the case for a project, but that didn’t happen! It was missing a rubber plug that activates the on/off button when I bought it so I made one for it that works fine. £8 plus £3 postage[/s]
Cheers

I really like the original US SUBs. They were cancelled because there just wasn't enough margin in them to make them financially viable.

The differences are mainly cosmetic. There's the big obvious things like the textured finish (saves on sanding and buffing) scratchplate and painted neck, but there's smaller details like the unbranded bridge (and tuners?), unfilled fret slots etc. They sound great all the same.

There are a few different models:

SUB 4 string active (2 band)
    SUB 4 string passive
SUB 5 string active (2 band)
    SUB 5 string passive
    SUB Sterling

The SUB Sterling is an interesting one in that it has an Alnico pickup as opposed to the ceramic pup in the Sterling... basically a Stingray in Sterling shape.

I've got a SUB Sterling and it also differs as it has a 3 band EQ. Cracking basses. The picture on my profile is my SUB 4 just fitted with a nicer scratch plate.
