1.
Doing a setup and moving on is cool, entry level basses with a good set up are really good for people starting out. I try and offer free/cheap setups to people starting out, but kind of hard to do without people 'making the fun'.
At this moment Fox im really hoping that isnt you...?,if it is can someone please help me remove my foot from my mouth :) ,not being malicious m8 just a few of us being childish, hey beats the sh*t out of us sniping at each other!

  2.
It looks really cool.
thats what i thought prior to buying it,in real life its cheapo moulded plastic, moulded exactly to take the coolcat pedals,no amount of altering is gonna make it take other pedals, when its closed in case mode it looks like some doughnut punchers handbag....totally awful bit of kit....and bear in mind im not exactly fussy as most my gear is either budget sh*t or prehistoric

  3. As title says,Danelectro pedal case/board.bought it on ebay a couple months ago to discover it is moulded pacifically for Danelectro Coolcat and some other of their range.
trid re-flogging it,turns out its about as desirable as genital warts, although its easier to get rid of genital warts it seems,so its free to anyone with a sense of humor and doesnt mind their band members laughing about them in secret.free.nixxy,gratis etc, dont get hurt in the stampede for it....

  4. Won this thing on Ebay for a total of £40 includind carriage,Its called a Keiper Resolute or something like that, what surprised me about it being a cheapo and costing me less than a night on the piss is its solid wood,ok the grains as rough as a badgers arse but body etc looks deceivingly good quality,it weighs half a kilo more than my P bass,it plays/sounds better than i thought it would, only thing i dislike is the neck width, despite being the same as the P copy 63mm at the body and only 3mm wider at the nut feels far chunkier, rest of the hardware seems ok quality, problem is ive googled and theres very little about these on the net but its certainly the best 40 quid ive layed out on a complette playable bass.

  5.
I've got 4 basses listed on ebay at present and I've offered free 'basic' delivery on all of them. Now though I confess I'd not be happy to send an expensive bass without insurance, I'd decided that I'd leave the issue of insurance up to the buyer and they could add that to whatever level they like. This seemed about the fairest way to be sure I didn't have accusations of inflating delivery costs and it also made it appealing for prospective buyers.

However... I've had a message that I am contravening eBay rules/T&C by trying to bypass ebay fees and my listings may be terminated if I don't either include a delivery fee OR offer free delivery but remove the request that buyers pay insurance! Now how the hell they come to that conclusion I have no idea but I'm at the point where I'm tempted to say stick it and close my account. Tw4ts! :)
same here, closing both ebay and PP accounts after being bumped by the c*** in Romania who got away with paying me 60 quid, from now on its gumtree or here for my bass stuff.

  6.
No, it's 16 ohms now. It's just a Peavey 2x10 175W and 4 ohms because the two 8 ohm drivers were wired in parallel. Now, after two minutes with a soldering iron they are in series, 8+8 = 16. The best part is that I bought this cab for only about £40 as it had no output but was cosmetically really good. It turned out to be a faulty crossover - I don't use crossovers or horns anyway - so out they came and voila a really punchy, clean-sounding cab that sounds great on the A channel of the amp or if I put it in the B channel along with the 1x15. Incidentally, I also bought the 1x15 (Ashdown ABM) for a knockdown price (you might've guessed by now I'm a skinflint) coz the original Blueline driver had seized solid. I bought a new Eminence 400W driver (I think about £70) and it is a better cab now than when it was built. Two good cabs for an outlay of only about £160 - can't be bad!
Nice end result i agree, good to hear a happy ending:)

  7. In the 80s i done stage crew at the Scottish ex cen, after every gig had that annoying wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo noise in the back of my head for a good few hrs,can still hear ok,i think....

  8.
I have all his details, Mobile, Landline and postal address so he may be getting a few surprises Jose :)
pass me his numbers,i work nightshift and will call him at 1,3,5 am and sing to him

  9.
Dougie : As a finishing touch I'd darken up that very brown fingerboard to make it fit in with your colour scheme - it'll show of those strings better too.
You might be able to do it with multiple applications of oil or conditioning wipes but a safer bet that you can get it right first time would be to stain it.
bastard!!!!,now you`ve said that i cant get the idea out my head!!,looking at the staining thing now.only thing ive stained was my Dennis the Menace duvet.......aged 11

  10.
Assume this is done and dusted now, but IMV, to get quality you need to start with quality and it is your call what parts of the bass are any good.

As an exercise, fair enough, and you may be able to use it, but this isn't a route I would take.
yea agree but as i said it wasnt intended to end up top class, merely usable, and on the basis that any bass is 2 lumps of wood with electrics and strings attached at each end i replaced the pups with ones Big Leo reckons are ok for his Jap efforts, the strings are descent quality so as i said it actually sounds ok..quality is better to a large degree when it gets you wondering if that 4k bass really is better than that nice 1k one you might have seen....

  11. Spent all im spending on this now, replaced
    1-stiffer black bridge
    2-better quality machine heads
    3-DR Neon green strngs
4-new chrome scratch plate5-black strap buttons
    5-Fender P MIJ pup
    6-Fender corona neck plate
    7-brass nut
8-my favourite, the Fecker pretender bass logo
    9-coppertaped all the holes.
Now onto my next project building a bass using quality stuff, gets kinda addictive, the Marlin inc what it cost new owes me about 180-200 quid and now actually sounds n looks ok....

  12.
My bad man.

How much does the cleaner normally go for?
switch cleaner?,couple of quid from a real electrical component stockist, about 200 quid from Maplin.....,has a variety of uses too, stops crackling pots,ok it has 1 other use i can think of bass wise...

  13. the boss 240 linked to the cheapo 5 link thing does work ok,its what i used, not that yer likely to have 5-6 pedal all operational at the same time but i erm, know a twat that tried it out of curiosity :) ...handled it np.

  14.
i found an old jap 6 string in a skip and when moving house offered it to jon, would have taken it round and everything in the brief chance of seeing the legendary basement.... but he had too much stuff to want it!
it's still in my old house if someone want me to fish it out, old old kay thing with a headstock break
Usually these items that end up worth a bomb,if ive learned anything about guitars/basses its dump f***all,it takes no space in a loft....
