6 hours left, bid away!

Because the bass is round my drummer's house, and I'm a lazy bugger

Bump
Had some interest so far, keep it coming! -
If you want that quacky raspy envelope sound you may want to pick up a DOD FX25, or FX25b if you cant find the original. I hear there are volume discrepancy issues with them, though.
-
An original Mutron III, I'd say. If you can find one, that is.

Christ on a bike.
It only takes a moment to say "this has been asked before, but you may find this previous thread helpful", or, if you're too busy, not say anything at all...
Being polite works on the internet as well as in real life, suprisingly enough! -
I'd recommend Labella Deep Talkin' flats. Nice smooth tone, nice highs and a fat bottom. A bit mid shy, hence the smoothness.

If its anything like my S2, then it'll do that as well -
If you like modern punchy tone, I doubt you could go far wrong with Paul C's Stealth mate!

Oh... er... must restrain... self...

Ah ha! I was totally stumped by that one! -

???
All asthetics, really. Some may say there is more neck to body contact, but I doubt it makes any difference to tone. Single cut guitars like the Les Paul have been around years, so why not have single cut basses too? -
I've owned a mexican Fender before and the build quality and tone was nowhere near the US Jazz I have now. I've also owned a Japanese Jaguar guitar, and that was really well made as well.
-
I've got some Labella Deep Talkin' flats on my S2 at the moment, and although they are nice smooth sounding strings, I can imagine they would struggle to cut through in a band situation as they seem very mid shy to me.
-
I was thinking the same last night, trying to get a decent pick tone from my Little Mark with my Jazz. Got a nice tone but sounded a bit sterile, maybe a sansamp would be the ticket but would be nice to chuck some tube witchcraft in there somewhere!
-
I've seen that one for sale before, and nice as it is, wouldn't want to pay that much. I doubt it would offer anything tonally over my wood necked Series 1 Status, and I picked that up for £250 I'd say £550-£650 would be a more realistic. That's just me though!

Anyone care to guess what he has turned on in this clip? Sounds lush! -

True! -
Looks like a Hamer Blitz to me.

One thing to consider of course is that nature has no concept of value or quality. Wood grows, we cut it down and use it, but whether the sound a certain type of wood gives is worth its cost is an entirely subjective matter. Its not like a cheap wood is cheap because the tree cut corners while it was growing! It may just be because the wood is plentiful.

Batteries not included is hardly the end of the world, though, is it? If it were a proper active preamp with bass/treble boost/cut and that sort of thing I would have put a battery in, but as its only a volume booster the buyer can put one in if he wants to use it.
Or, they can turn up the gain on their amp for free
