1. I've been having a bit of a clearout and have the following books surplus :

The Tube Amp Book by Aspen Pittman (4.1th Edition) £10
The Bass Book by Tony Bacon & Barry Moorhouse (2008 edition) £5
The Fender Bass, An Illustrated History by Black & Molinaro £5 SOLD
The Fender Bass by Klaus Blasquiz £5
Guitar Identification by A.R.Duchossoir £5

Postage at cost.

2. My suggestion would be to get a folk-style guitar - these are full scale but with a smaller body. Fender do a basic one at around the £100 mark : http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/fender-cf-60-folk-acoustic-guitar-natural

3. Having a bit of re-arrangement of my guitar pedals and this one has been deemed surplus.

1998 Marshall Drivemaster overdrive/distortion pedal
Very good condition - a few scratches and the battery cover is missing (the battery covers never fitted well on these).
Comes with original box and instructions.

Looking for £45 + post (about £4.50 for UK 2nd class recorded) or nearest offer.

5. I think it's one of these : http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/potentiometers/7293697/

Full Spec is here : http://www.alps.com/prod/info/E/HTML/Potentiometer/RotaryPotentiometers/RK12L12/RK12L12_list.html

Alps RK12L 10kohm linear - I did have a bit of help from this thread here : http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5941 - Assuming the marking are the same as that thread then it should be the correct replacement - will depend on the shaft length and shaft diameter.

RS link was the first uk hit I came to.

6. There should be a date on the speakers which should match the dating codes on the celestion site : http://celestion.com/speakerworld/guitartech/50/Understanding_Driver_Date_Codes/

I have a feeling the G12/50 was early 80s but I might be wrong.

7. I found a couple on the line 6 site that I like :

Thin Lizzy - Dancing in the moonlight - http://line6.com/customtone/tone/119074/
Police - Walking on the moon - http://line6.com/customtone/tone/203861/

Beyond that I tend to go for the Marshall Major through a 4x12 for a nice 70s rock tone (despite using an 80s-style bass  )

8. I fitted my 12-string with a fishman infinity pickup - the controls mount in the soundhole so is a relatively easy install with just the piezo to mount under the saddle and the endpin output jack. Details of it are here : http://www.fishman.com/products/series/matrix/matrixinfinity.php - cost is about £150.

9. This place stock replacements (but the HB1 is currently out of stock) : http://www.rickysoun...uk/Pickups.html

Richtone music are showing them on pre-order : http://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/guitar_accessories/pick_ups/rickenbacker.asp

10. Looks like a Chris Shiflett Signature model which is based on a 1970s Telecaster deluxe : http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/guitars/telecaster/chris-shiflett-telecaster-deluxe-rosewood-fingerboard-arctic-white/

So the bass counterpart would be the Nate Mendel signature? http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/basses/precision-bass/nate-mendel-p-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-candy-apple-red/

I tried the Shiflett signature and liked it but couldn't justify it when I have a Les Paul and a 62 Telecaster Custom re-issue :D

11. That bridge and gold hardware were used on "The Strat" in the early 80s but it only came with a painted, slightly odd-shaped headstock. http://www.guitarsplus.com.au/fender-strat

The neck looks more like a 57 reissue neck with the early logo, single string guide, nickel/chrome vintage tuners (I would expect the tuners to be gold to match the rest of the hardware) and body-end truss rod adjustment.

Might be a bitsa?

12. Just put a pedal board together, having been a guitar straight to amp type for a long time. Pedal board is by Coffin Case and the order is :

Fender Tele > Peterson Stobostomp 2 > Marshall ED1 (Edward the Compressor) > Marshall Drivemaster > Marshall RF1 (Chorus/Flanger) > Marshall DSL401.

Still experimenting with the settings as to what suits me but it sounds fairly good so far.

13. The Steinberger case is the SHC-101 which Thomannn stocked until recently - keep an eye on their site as sometimes the cases re-appear (certainly they stopped stocking the xl case and it's back again).

The other option is to use a gun case or a keyboard case and cut foam to fit.

14. A good starter book is "Complete Guide to Guitar and AMP Maintenance" which covers the basics of biasing, fault finding and minor repairs (also covers the basics of guitar maintenance as well) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/books/dp/0793534909/
