A few years back I had one of their wireless monitoring systems, but it was the US version for their frequencies. I knew where every taxi in town was going during our sets

Hi Brett,
First off, I don't have the greatest ears around. I don't think the mix is bad apart from (and this might just be me) the vocals seem quite low in the mix. -

Couldn't you just turn up at his front door with a bass and amp and suggest a jam?
You mean actually go out and MEET someone??
I thought the internet did away with all of that nonsense
They're in the process of doing up the flat and moving in. There's been no signs of anyone being there today, but I will next time they're in (possibly with beer or wine rather than a bass in hand) -
-
During the course of the day, I have realised that getting in the lift to his (or her) floor and saying "I see you play bass. Are you on basschat.co.uk?" would have been a lot quicker
As far as I knew, I was the only bass player here, but that's still no guarantee I'm the best
And we don't have wheelie bins. We have chutes that send rubbish to the bowels of hell (as far as I know). -
Cheers Discreet, I'd read Bongomania's review and that's what got me thinking of it. Just looking for a second opinion here.
Hadn't realised you can pick up the 166 for that cheap. Had a chance to use some 266s last weekend and didn;t think they were as bad as Bongomania suggests. -
Cheers Molan, I'm more set on getting the body end right from the start.
Not bought anything yet, but will be starting next month once back from Holiday -
As the title says - anyone tried the Alesis 3632 and what did you think of it?
I'm getting rid of my pedals, or at least not using them anymore and I'm looking for a rack comp to go with my LH500. -
Not on my crappy cameraphone.
Plus I don;t want to become the creepy stalker of the block -

This could be the new Mystery bassist thread!
At least last time we had a picture, can you tell if he is playing a 4 or 5 string bass, class D amp or big Ampegy one, flats or roundwound etc, come on we want clues

Just been out on the balcony for a cig and couldn't help having a nose.
There's a black four string bass (possibly a Jazz) and I'm certain there's a Purple Chili cab next to it. -
They look pretty comfortable. I had lots of surgery on my ears as a kid and can't cope with anything that puts pressure on the ear canal. Might have to give these a try.

That beats the old trick of pointing your TV remote through your neighbours' window!

The neighbour whose lounge I can see usually has gentleman's fine art movies on -

Next time he/she practices you should mimic what they play so they think they've got some delay unit plugged in somewhere. It'll drive them nuts.

Does anyone remember that story of the phantom bassist of Tumbridge Wells? Does he/she only play after midnight on a full moon?
Sorry, I'll stop doing that -
Ahhh you lot
-
Have any of you lot just moved into a flat in Tunbridge Wells?
-
Cheers Greg, I've yet to hear a bad thing about Mighty Mite necks
The decals have got my thinking too. -
I've not tried the 2024 but played the 1024 a few weeks ago.
Great sounds, very aggressive. The neck though is hugely chunky - nut feels narrower than a traditional Precision but the profile is very deep and round. -

Maybe I'll take the whole lot down to the Driftwood Spars in St Agnes, for their Open Mic on Sunday afternoon

OT, but I stayed there a while back. Lovely pub. -

Isn't this the the dorkiest, most f***ing vile thing you've ever seen? Like a hippo with leprosy.

Elephantisis of the bass -
That's the thing, I've heard nothing but good things about Mighty Mite necks. Still want the Warmoth body though as I can choose from the showcase by weight
Was '69 a transitional period for paint? I've had a PM saying that their 69 body is nitro' finished and a post above saying theirs is poly. -
Since the battery lead to the side finger of the bass jack is usually a separate finger, I'm wondering if something is bent that is making contact and shorting out the battery somewhere between the battery connection and the jack. Is the battery connection a separate connection that might have had a wire become crossed, or is it of internal integral flanges that the battery just sits in. Every few years, in spite of being careful, I occasionally have to replace battery connections and take small needle nosed pliers and realign jack fingers to make sure clean connections are made and not shorting out across to other connections.
I've popped a battery in for now and (with nothing plugged in) will see if it still has charge in a few days. If not, this is great info to take it further. Cheers -
I think, based on budget and the fact I don't want this to end up being another box-of-bits-under-the-spare-bed-that-will-eventually-get-sold, I am going to go for a Mightymite neck just to get the thing done in as short a space of time as poss. Then in time get a more correct neck to finish it properly (the finished Warmoth necks come in at a few hundred pound more than the Mightymites)

Cheers, guys.
Opened it up. Got the hoover nozzle in there and also gave the input jack a quick hoover too.
I'll see what happens.
