  1. I have numerous friends from my days in York who work there. They all know each other from outside of work. The majority of the positions are filled by people's mates. The low wages, lack of career progression and low job satisfaction is why the service is mostly dreadful, as they are not interested in experience they just want to work with mates they can have a laugh with throughout the day.

Wonderful voice. I sooo love the drumming. and the bass playing. And especially that little hook from the guitar at 1.20.

Tiny desk is incredible generally. Jordan Smith, Tank and the bangas, Anderson Paak, Tower of Power, Nao, Mac Miller with Thundercat and recently Jacob Collier... endless rabbit hole of quality musicianship (and also a masterclass in recording life music. The quality of the recordings always surprises me!)

It’s one of the non export Japan p basses, their equivalent of the Mexican standard stuff, they come up a fair bit.

not a Squier Indonesian neck although I get why people have said it.

neck off, model number will be on the heel or the neck pocket 👍🏼

On all the standard stuff I’ve seen, the headstock decal has never included the origin like this does and the serial number on the neck heel always has the origin in black and serial numbers in silver (again, not like this). Interesting!

Whatever the body is, I am pretty sure that neck  is an Indonesian Squier neck.

The decal on the headstock and also the back of the neck heel look like they’ve been added (badly) to a cheaper neck. Particularly the serial number decal, which on every Japanese (mij or cij) I’ve ever seen have had black text for the origin and silver for the actual serial digits.

I know it's being picky but I just think the standard BBOT bridge looks wrong on a 'Stang.  It needs to look like this.......loving the maple board though.

Totally agree (and maple fingerboards on mustangs are also wrong!)

The OP seems to be missing the point with Ronaldo's training.  He didn't start off using the ankle weights he progressed to them.  By this token we shoud all start off with super easy basses to play, then swich to massivey high action and huge string gauges once we have developed some stamina and technique.

And Ronaldo, while being a great footballer, is a massive bell end.

Totally agree. OP missed the important point.

In the Ronaldo story, he has made a decision to challenge himself. At the point this decision has been made, his technique would already be at an advanced stage, his diet would have been designed specifically with a team of chefs and nutritionists etc, his knowledge of the risk of injury would be coupled with the advice of some of the best trainers/doctors at an established sporting business. He is an athlete but not through his own hard work. It is the combination of his desire to push himself and the support of a vast knowledge base of trained professionals.

Throwing a cheap bass at an inexperienced bassist is not really the same. It'd be comparable to placing weights on the ankles of a toddler who is just learning to walk and expecting them to get the same benefit as Ronaldo.

Cherry LPJ fretless... La Bella white nylons on and away we go 👍 No fretless eh? Missing a trick on a mid-scale which looks like it would have a really good midrange voice.

What's the score re rosewood boards - can't sell from US to EU with rosewood. I'm surprised they can use it at all on current production - didn't they get into serious bother over rosewood of 'unknown' origin a while back?

And on the Tbird I notice the EU store only has ebony finish, and it appears to be quite hefty (and oddly small):

    I guess that answers the questions... From the product description on the website;

“We are unfortunately unable to ship this guitar internationally at this time due to CITES restrictions on rosewood. Please consider shopping at our EU store or find a dealer who may be able to ship to your location”

@skej21 - looks so good! I am thinking this is the right choice! will look so nice with the aged white knobs too!

What year is yours do you know? mines 2006-2008 - do you have a link to where you bought yours from? any help would be appreciated :)

Mine is 2016 and got the pickguard from WD Music!

  9. They clearly don’t know their market very well at all. Bass players are stereotyped as the quiet one at the back who never gets any groupie action... They’ve created an attention-grabbing bass design that also has a ‘G-Spot’ control. Can you imagine the pressure of all the eyes in the room being on you whilst also not being able to find the G-Spot in front of the club chairman and a bunch of bingo-hungry coffin-dodgers?! I think I’ll stick to a precision, a dark corner and 3rd place in the meat raffle, thanks!

A white or chrome cover, a lipstick or bronco type PU would have been nicer IMO.

This with Lollipop tuners and you’d have an outright winner!

Edit: On further inspection I just noticed the jack is on the edge of the body. Switch that back to the control plate and I’d be happy! 😂

  11. SR1800 had a Wenge/Bubinga neck and a rosewood fingerboard. SR1820 looks like a slight update to this with the change to a Panga Panga/Purpleheart neck and Panga Panga fingerboard.

It would appear that, like other manufacturers, a move away from rosewood and less sustainable woods has prompted the spec change and the model variant.

  12. I recently got the TMB-100 for travelling (Id rather chuck that in the hold, it’s easily replaced!) and those dodgy gigs where drinks are flying etc. I have to say it’s a really impressive little bass. I’m already starting to think of it becoming a project bass, maybe having a Capri orange nitro refin and upgrading the pickups but overall it’s tonally versatile and looks quite smart too!

I imagine the 600 will be really nice. Ibanez quality is always really decent once you get to the level (like the SR500/600 range are fantastic value for money too!)
