I haven’t read the Talkbass thread but it looks like strings with silks at the ball end may have issues here? Flat/tapewounds for example?
Because, as I said upthread, these parts of strings are not intended to be part of the 'speaking' length of the string.

I'm not sure, as those are still bent over a saddle, are not straight, and the witness point still involves the bending of a core to vibrate. Also, they have an extreme change in mass within the vibrating length which causes it's own problems.
Does it? Pianos don't seem to have problems with that idea...

Not had any time to play with it yet, still technically convalescing from 3 shoulder surgeries. Might even just pot it in Araldite!

Off the top of my head, I would have thought most, if not all of the claims made could be addressed simply by using core-contact/taperwound strings, as in a piano. No need for a special bridge then.

the windings on the bridge end come into play, they MUST affect sustain and intonation.
Exactly, those bits are NOT designed to be part of the speaking length.

Un-Withdrawn - dep work abandoned due to spontaneous stress fracture in right shoulder...
500 for quick sale, but it is absolutely collection only. I cannot drive for the forseeable, so no chance of a meet.
300 for combo, 200 for cab. 450 if you take thew rig!
Trade: Barefaced One10 with cover plus cash.
At this price, it's surely worth the drive, no?

i would add that i'm a fingerstyle player rather than a pick if that makes any difference.
Sure there are a few P geeks on here that can offer words of wisdom. Lozz will be one of them hopefully

Build your own. I have a Mexican body and bridge, pretty much identical to a 70s bass. Because I also became enamoured of slimmer-than-usual Jazz necks, I bought an American Special Jazz neck in maple. Add suitable tuners, pickup to taste etc.

Where are you based?
Tavistock. Unfortunately, the surgery has gone wrong, up to and including a remote possibility of not plyaing again...

I'd really like this to be my first bash, but the recent op means I can't drive, and possibly only barely play. I think it's a non-starter...

Surgery done, very awkward typing this one-handed with my left hand. Now just the joy of waiting for the nerve block to wear off..

My triggers broom is a 2003 MIM P-bass, and the only original parts left are the body, bridge, and knobs.

And tomorrow is the other reason for going ultra-lite - reverse total r/h shoulder replacement.
Should be fun. Not.
