Saying Hello, and some memories from the 70s!

Hello all;
Currently I play a Westfield Jazz with flatwounds and a Peavey Cirrus 4BXP through a nice little Laney RB2.

Just practicising at home at the moment but always dreaming about other possibilities!

The Westfield is "ok" but some of the frets are lifting a bit and the neck may be slightly warped, ideally I'd replace it.

The Peavey is in some ways great to play for someone with relatively small hands (narrow neck) but not in others (35" scale so wider fret spacings).

Many years ago - about 1978 or 79 I think - I started out with a CMI Jazz copy and a Selmer treble n Bass 100 valve head!

The CMI from memory wasn't up to much, I seem to think it was big and heavy but can't remember much. Sold long ago.

The Selmer was of course brilliant, played through 2 homemade 12 or 15" cabs. Bought it for £50 (?) and it worked perfectly. (The shop had 2 of them for sale at the same price). My guitarist mate bought a 50W Selmer at the same time or just after which he had some bother with, so quite often we both played through the same amp!

It was great practising in my mates parents' garage in the mid winter, warming my hands over the amp!

In a massive moment of madness, when I moved away from the Edinburgh area where I lived in 1982, I sold the Selmer and its 2 cabs. Think I got £130 for the lot but maybe less?

Didn't get into bass playing again til I got the Westie in about 1997.

Just the other day I saw a similar amp on ebay for about £500..........

And I could have had 2 of them :)
