Bassman77 Posted November 29, 2007 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Hiya all well I'm into a Motown phase at the moment and I'm looking for that deep mushy Jamerson sound from my MIM 60s Jazz bass, without having to get the Fender US 62 Precision re-issue!. Some months ago I fitted some flatwounds which when cranked on the neck pickup with the treble rolled down is close, but I need to deaden the strings more. Ive heard of people using erasers and other stuff under the strings to use as string mutes, anybody done this or have any other ideas?. BB2000 Posted November 29, 2007 Share Posted November 29, 2007 I use a little bit of the small cell bubblewrap rolled into a tube, and just shove it in front of the bridge. Sponges, socks etc. all work, but the bubblewrap is pretty consistent - so I'd suggest you 'roll' your own. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Paul Cooke Posted November 30, 2007 Share Posted November 30, 2007 what I find is that the intonation and tuning goes off and you have to re-tune between having the wodge of foam in and out... I very rarely play above 7th fret anyway, so the intonation doesn't worry me that much but I have to re-tune after sticking the foam wodge in place...
