Graphic eq

Can any one please help, have a Carlsbro 150watt 4x10 combo, but the eq only works on the first 5 sliders (bass end ) the others make no differance at all. Have tried cleaning them and even tried a bit of switch cleaner, but nothing seems to work. My mate has put a meter across them and he says there is no reason they don't work.

Any ideas please.

If the combo has a tweeter, it might be a problem with that - if the tweeter isn't working, the higher frequencies that it covers won't be produced and the sliders that control those frequencies will appear not to work.

Not sure what the problem could be though, as I've never had a problem with this kind of thing myself (but then I don't use much treble in my own tone), but from what I've heard online from other people's experiences, it could be that the tweeter has blown, the little bulb that protects it has blown, or there is a problem with the crossover.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the reply Jonny-lad, what you are saying makes sense, I will have to look to see if I can see anything. Have been looking at the sliders and as you say it could be somthing connected with them ( I am rubbish with electric's ).

I will have to a word with a chap I know he is a tv audio repairer, and see if he can get any replacement sliders. With Carlsbro no longer in business and the amp being about 25years old Carlsbro spares will be very short on the ground.

Thanks for the reply Hillbilly deluxe.

If it is a block of sliders (rather than just one), them most likely it is the circuitry behind them that is at fault (ie. a single fault affecting all of the controls, rather than the same problem with each one separately).
