2 - I fancy building a decent rack 'floor standing' for 'a few' bassi - anybody seen any good plans? Good ideas?

The one made from plastic pipe, was something I have been looking at for myself.

The "nursery" is quite small and at the moment I have 5 basses/guitars with another one due in this week, and with them all on seperate stands I am going to run out of room quite quickly.

The pipe would mean that it is simple to build and light-weight.......just have to make sure that the wall of the pipe is sufficiently thick to avoid too much flexing/bending under load.

It would also be the easiest to bulid - a saw and some pipe cement, and a pair of hands to push it together.

I used those instructions a while back to make a 10 space stand.

As the instructions show, you can vary the distance between each segment so you can get acoustic guitars on there as well. Mine has 2 electric guitars, 3 acoustics and 5 basses.

I found with a bit of weight on it that the plastic pipes at the bottom needed some reinforcement. So I bought cheapy brooms from Tesco and put the detachable handles inside the pipes.

I'm no DIY'er so mine's solid, but a bit rough around the edges!! An enjoyable project though

My original thought was to make out of wood (being a carpenter's son) but the plastic tube is something I've used a lot of before, plumbing for koi ponds etc. Now I'm thinking - I've got a stash of 20 or 22mm copper pipe in the loft! Some solder joints & a blowtorch

EDIT: I've just seen the prices of solder ring tees & elbows, no chance! Rather get some nice wood
