JHBASS
Hey all, I was playing today, when I noticed that my tone pot became dysfunctional, and my tone stayed at a constant "zingy" feel rather than mellow, which is how I like it! I know how to rectify the problem (my volume pots have come unsoldered before), but i was just wondering whether this issue could cause any damage to my amp, as it may be a few days before i can get to a soldering iron. I know this probably sounds silly, but I've just got a new amp, so I want to make sure I don't carelessly damage it (e.g. like when you pull out/put in jack leads whilst forgetting the amps still on). Its a passive bass, so I instinctively dont feel there will be a problem, but I just want to see if you guys feel the same way. Cheers for your help! JHBASS
Cheers guys, I realised this was a pretty stupid question....I might as well leave it, I quite like the "new" tone to be honest...but shall have to route out the soldering iron at some point! Cheers.
Ancient Mariner
You could always replace it with a push-pull pot that allowed you to bypass the tone pot: that way you retain the 'new' tone and have a bit more versatility for those moments less bite is needed.
