Small to Mid Combo Advice Needed

I have one of the older style TE combo's at home & was wondering on replacing it with something that had multiple smaller speakers, like a 4X8 or something, would this give me a better sound in a home enviroment than just 1x15 ?
I would also consider going for a smaller combo (would still like a 12 band eq & maybe an inbuilt tuner) as I don't use all of the 200w.
Budget could be up to £500.

Cheers
Steve

If it ain't broke...

If you're using it in quite a small room, if you have the option try it in different positions to get it to work best with the room acoustics. Also don't be afraid of fairly radical tweaking on the graphic - you may need to cut the bottom few sliders by a large amount to compensate for room gain and standing waves, which would otherwise make the sound horribly boomy. A 4x8" will suffer the same problems.

If you're never going to need to use it at war volumes against a drummer then the one other combo I'd suggest is the PJB Bass Briefcase. It sounds lovely, it just doesn't go very loud. They occasionally pop up secondhand on here.

Thanks for that Alex, I'll try your suggestions although the PJB Bass Briefcase does look nice with some good reviews.

Thanks
Steve
