'77 Precision fretless neck & tuners, vintage case, Telebass PUP

Recommended Posts

I've just had a lovely letter from Parcelforce informing me that I can expect an incoming '78 maple-board Precision neck any day soon :)

That's the good news, the bad news is that it will make this neck redundant, which is a shame because it's an absolutely stunning neck, one of Fender's better pieces of work from the era in question. I can say with hand on heart that I've yet to be able to get the action as low as I have on this neck on any other fretless, and despite the fact that I've played it a lot over the last few months, as the result of having been used exclusively with soft flats, the neck is pretty much unmarked (which is the condition it was in when I bought it from Thornybank late last year). It is slightly shallower than most P necks of the period which makes it feel pretty fast, and, although I know it's a little controversial to talk of the neck's contribution to tone, every bass I've played this neck on has sounded outstanding, especially in relation to tonal range and sustain. At the moment it's strung with TI Flats which provide a lovely, sultry uprightly tone but with sufficient punch for the bass to impersonate it's fretted brothers when needed.

Anyway, I need some cash at present so I'm looking for £275 ONO, which I think is a pretty good price given what they tend to go for on ebay (you can always hit me with interesting trades.......). I'm happy to post although I will remove the tuners and tree to do so as the former have been known to get 'Parcelforced' in the past. As ever I'm happy to arrange a meet up or collection from Canterbury, Kent, or Milton Keynes.

Now on ebay along with a rather overpriced '78 Fender case (apologies but they do go for £100 more than I'm asking in the USA) and a Telebass PUP. Gotta pay for my Ric parts somehow! Let me know of you'd like to make an offer and I'll close the auction

Case sold at BIN in 20 mins so I guess it wasn't overpriced after all :)
