Ashy Posted Sunday at 10:44 Posted Sunday at 10:44 Interested in buying one of the above , lots of info on the Yam not too much on the Franconia. Opinion's very welcomed as I've not played either ...similar price. Cheers Ashy 1 Quote
EJWW Posted Sunday at 15:29 Posted Sunday at 15:29 Go for the Yamaha. Is a well known brand and a respectable product and you will be able to sell it later. Franconia appears to be quite obscure and you will likely struggle to ever shift it if you want to upgrade. That said, if you try the Franconia and it 'speaks' to you and inspires you to make beautiful music then it's probably worth every penny. 3 Quote
Ashy Posted Sunday at 16:13 Author Posted Sunday at 16:13 Thanks for that, I would be buying either without trying . Sound advice many thanks 1 Quote
Sean Posted Monday at 00:30 Posted Monday at 00:30 100% the Yamaha. The Franconia is, I believe late 70s, early 80s. It's niche, quirky and very much a collectable or enthusiast instrument. Pickup spacing is unconventional too. @Bassassin will undoubtedly be able to shed some light on Franconia basses. Quote
Cornwall Steve Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hi Ashy Not sure whether you've pulled the trigger and made your mind up yet? If not, I'd thoroughly recommend going for the BB424x. I bought a BB425x last May (from Andertons) and absolutely adore it. If feels great to play and sings to me. Despite being Passive it's surprisingly flexible with its range of tones and quite a monster too. I own 33 basses and the 425x is one of my very favourites. Quote
