sambecker1 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Dear Basschatters, I have a P bass body, along with original pots, neckplate (and bolts) and knobs, pickup screws (they look old but I'm aware they're just a bonus!), strap and bass case that I believe to be from a 1977 Fender Precision bass. I have some pickups too but they don't have any serial numbers or markings so I am not sure they are from the same bass. I am looking to sell the body and parts but I'd love to know if anyone can help identify the body especially. The pots are from 1977 and the body looks to be from then too but any help would be hugely appreciated. And any estimates on a price for it (as a package with everything or stand alone) would be hugey appreciated! Best wishes, Sam 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Ive had mainly late 60s to 72 jazzes and Precision’s and I’m no expert , it’s quite difficult to exactly date a body as they stopped dating them in the early 60s, from 73 onwards they did the rout from the pickup to the control cavity , I believe they stopped the serial number on the neckplate in 76 so your large F plate with the gasket would be about right for a 77 and the neck pocket stamps look right ,around that time under the bridge I think they did the ground wire rout circular, might be worth having a look at that, the pot is stamped 77 week 11, and to me the bridge looks genuine as do the knobs Quote
Reggaebass Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago Hi sam, you could also put this in the vintage fenders thread, there’s some pretty knowledgeable people there Quote
