Bass cabs next to drum cabs

As a small 3 piece out drummer uses a bass cab to boost his bass drum - this is placed next to my bass cab due to limited pub gig space. Should both bass and bass drum sound be so close?

I can't see a problem, assuming he doesn't turn up his mids and you don't turn up your deep bass.

On the upside, your cab on top of his would give you a monitor closer to your ears.

It will be very evident which frequency range you need to give over for the sake of a clear mix.
