four/five Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Happy New Year All, I have a bb425 and a 735 but I’ve just noticed it would appear that on the 735 unlike the 425 there is no way to adjust any backlash on the tuners. This does seem a bit odd being the extra cost of the 700 series. There’s only a couple of tuners that would require adjusting and I can live with them but it does seem a bit odd the cheaper models have the adjustment. The 735a is secondhand so no good me complaining to Yamaha. Apart from that niggle the bass plays very well with a lot of potential re the tones available. The 425 though also has its own signature tones certainly different to the 735. Finally why is it that on the UK or USA Yamaha site you can’t download a 734/735 user manual. The manuals on both sites appear to be all ceramic pickup models. Any road up. Have a good and healthy New Year, and next year I will learn to read the dots proper. Quote
Skybone Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Are you thinking about replacing the tuners on the 735? Even on things like US made Fenders and other £1000+ instruments, the adjustability of the tuners is limited, unless the manufacturer adds components which are designed as "aftermarket" items (Hipshot or Gotoh for example). The tuners on my 4003 are pretty basic affairs. Quote
four/five Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Thanks for the reply, no I don't intend changing the tuners on the 735. Just thought it odd that my 425 has adjustable tuners and the higher priced 735 just had a basic Fender type tuner unit. I agree re - expensive basses I have hipshot light tuners on a £2000 bass and they are not the best. Quote
