Byo Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) Hi there! I have used the UAD 6176 plugin for a while, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Pretty decent direct bass sound, with simple EQ and an industry-standard compressor to round things up. I have used the real 1176 in the studio many times for different things over the years, and also managed to use a UA 610 in a few sessions for some vocals. So I do like what they do in the "real" World 😄. I own both the Warm Audio Pedal76 and the Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Bass and whilst they both share the same DNA, the Warm Audio is a bit more aggressive when compared to the Origin, which sounds to me a bit more polished. Great options to have depending on the rig and music played. I wanted to see if anyone has played with the idea of pairing the Origin Effects DCX into a Pedal76 or a Cali76 Compact, and if so... what were your thoughts? I am yet to try the DCX, only a couple of demos got me excited about the pedal... but seeing that it is based on the UA 610 and that the UAD 6176 plugin is currently working for me, I wanted to see if I could successfully recreate a portable and gig-ready/friendly version. Thanks for your time! 🤘 Edited October 3 by Byo Quote
jimbobothy Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) ... I'm currently running a board with an Origin Effects Bass Comp going into a DCX Bass ending with a Radial JDi and the folks at FOH have said the sound is very easy to work with. Depending on how the DCX is EQ'd will wary, but I tend not to have much grit at all tbh. Also sounds nice in my IEMs tbf. I was planning on having a Lusithand Alma comp at the end, to mimic the 1176 LA1A pairing, but not got around to building that board yet!! Edited October 4 by jimbobothy grammar 1 Quote

That's my assumption too, that it will be a good sound for FOH to deal with. If you do manage to get a Alma Comp onto your board, let me know how that goes. That double comp combo should really tighten things up nicely 🤘 Quote
Alanbass Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago @jimbobothy Hi, I've got the origin effects bass comp and thinking about getting the DCX bass pedal. I think that you have this combination. Wondered if you could offer a view about what the EQ is like please? Like you I wouldn't be using drive much at all as I much prefer a cleaner sound. Appreciate any views you are able to share and I realise that this is all highly subjective! Alan Quote
