kiat Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Is there a master thread where we can list the artists or songs that we want to emulate the tone for and players can reply if they've managed it and how they've done it with effects etc? Quote

I'm looking to emulate great tones using the new multi-pedal I've just got, as I play in covers bands and looking to get more authentic tones. Hope to personally benefit from the wisdom and experience of basschatters and hope others can too. Quote
LukeFRC Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I’m not sure you can get a “master thread” for this kinda thing - mostly it’s playing style and bass, and then you’re going to have a combo of amp cab eq and compression - the exact setup could go from anything from “just use a SVT type sound” to whole forums of passionate people dissecting macca’s bass tone! How you get that is going to utterly dependent on the effects unit you use and what works for an individual band? Scott’s bass lessons have done some videos with Ian Martin Allison where try try and match a sound in 2 min using a hx stomp - my take out from it is playing style makes the most difference… Quote

He has quite a unique 'chucking' style. I don’t think he used effects pedals, and seem to remember hearing that his recorded sound was straight to desk. He did apparently use quite old flatwound strings and most famously used a Stingray bass - but he did also record with a Precision and other basses and made them all sound like him. 1 Quote

Maybe you're right, but it's more a resource for those that have found tones that work for them in a particular style (with chains of effects or maybe a NAM file etc) can share them, rather than a discussion. For example... https://www.tone3000.com/tones/noble-28182 is a forum for sharing NAM tones, rather than discussing the ins and outs of them. Quote
