allighatt0r Posted June 10, 2009 Share Posted June 10, 2009 I've recently got myself a passive Thunderbird, and realised the joys of passive bass! Subsequently, my active BB614 is getting used alot less. So this is a bit of a feeler. Would anyone care to trade their BB414 for my BB614? It's just less than a year old, and is finished in old violin sunburst, and has got some buckle rash. I can take some pictures if anyone is interested. As you have discovered, the simplicity of a passive bass can be superior in some ways to it's active counterpart - plug and play. I wouldn't say the 614 was an upgrade of the 414, more an option. Congratulations on coming to your senses and welcome to the Passive Yamaha BB appreciation society I think the best option, if the pickups are indeed the same in both basses is a bypass so that the bass can be used in passive or active mode. If it were black, I'd snap your hand off and do the mod myself. I'm not keen on the violin sunburst however. Good luck with the trade.
