Mesa Boogie WD800

Has anyone tried the WD800 with upright bass? Had a shot of a D800+ and really liked it for its relative simplicity but I play upright as well and can't help feeling the WD800 might work better with a less"baked-in" tone possibly and the parametric mid controls handy for problematic rooms. I live in Orkney so getting a shot of a WD800 soon is impossible...

What type of pickup / microphone system are you using?

 

It’s a bass amp with a tube pre amp so should be warm and lovely. Like all amps it’ll take some dialling in I guess.

I've got a Realist fitted. The other reason I was looking at the Mesa was the onboard HPF-very handy especially when using small cabs

It's a very interesting head for sure. Tons of EQ.  I couldn't find anywhere on the Mesa site that stated what the input impedance was.  So you might need a preamp to get the best out of your realist.

 

That output damping switch is very interesting.   If you do get one the please report back as to how it works out.

 

Mesa stuff always looks gorgeous.
