Noise on my Squire Affinity V

Hey, 

 

I'm relatively new to bass or guitars in general, only about a year, but I've noticed there's always noise on my Squire affinity V jazz bass. It never used to bother me but now that I'm actually trying to record stuff its become a problem. After trying different audio interfaces and cables I've realised it only really happens when the master tone and the neck pickup are turned up. You can't really hear anything at first but as soon as I play there's like a fuzziness. Does anyone know a fix for this? I've attached an audio file of what happens.

Possibly a bad solder joint on the neck pickup / pot ?

Only fuzziness, not cutting the sound? I would start by lowering a bit the neck pickup. It might be to close to the string creating some distortion. 

Or maybe there's to much gain and you're clipping the signal on your sound card.

Is it the deluxe active V version? If so, your battery may need replacement.
