You might already be aware of how important the pentatonic scales are for us bass players. They can be used to create bass lines, riffs and licks that you know are going to sound great.

There’s a song called Mojo Hannah by Elkie Brooks that has a bass line almost exclusively made up from the major pentatonic scale.

It’s really fun to play and a good example of how to incorporate certain scales into bass lines.

I’ve transcribed the bass line note for note and you can download the free PDF In standard notation and Tab.

I’ve also made up a webpage where you can hear me playing the main riff, learn the pentatonic scale and read the bass line.

Even if you don’t yet have the technique to play the bass line at full tempo, it’s still worth learning and playing at the speed you’re comfortable with.

Enjoy!
