blend pot help

I have wired up a blend pot for jazz pups (via pre-amp) using this diagram...

... but rather than a "blend" the result is more of a "combine" as the volume goes up in the middle of the sweep where both pups are introduced equally thus doubling the signal strength.

What is a better method (using the same 6 pole blend pot) so that I have an even sweep through to each pup but without the vol spike in the middle?

Not sure there is a wiring solution to this - isn't this a problem with the two tapers not complementing eachother? I had a load of problems installing a 'true' blend pot into a passive jazz bass system because the blend pot was not balancing the volumes properly thru the sweep. In the end I ditched it and went back to 2 separate vols. There's still a big thread about it on the Guitar Nutz forum where plenty of amazingly knowledgeable electronics guys with a vested interest in guitars will be happy to give advice.
