OK, Boys & Girls, this isn’t your Mamby Pamby Mocked up, Imitation Road Worn Jazz Bass, that has been kicked around the Custom shop NOO, this is the real deal.
This old girl has earned her stripes & has kicked & screamed her way from 1967 into 2016, biting & clawing all the way, She’s seen more action than Big John Holmes (Not that I would know anything about that!) & probably whacked a few drunken Mosh-Pitters around the head en-route & has the battle scars to prove it. Yes she’s road worn, yes she has THAT fag burn on the headstock & yes she is totally beautiful. With still that killer growling Jazz tone & playability of a bass that can only have survived almost 50 years of the riggers of the road!
Her body has the scars & the years of playing in smokey venues shows on the body Nitro and logo in part, but that all just adds to the character of her. Her beautifully aged, rear of neck, feels like silk & she plays like butter, the frets have tons of life in them and the bridge & neck covers have gained that lovely old nickel patina. Her original case & lifelong compadre, is also in an aged condition, but still closes & latches, however, I would perhaps be tempted to retire the case in favour of a younger model for gigging!
