It is clear there are various options regarding better pup and adding a pre-amp. However my thoughts are heading towards adding another MM pickup around 2 inches behind the neck. Is this a bonkers idea? My intention would be to wire the existing pickup to the rear volume pot leaving the front pot available for the neck pup. If I buy a SBM4A can this be used passive?
