[/quote] When I was first starting out on bass, I actually found it more useful to hook up with guitarists than other bass players. I was self-teaching from books (especially Stuart Clayton's excellent Crash Course For Bass) so what I really needed was people I could jam along with so as to practise the techniques I was learning.
