Truckstop
Hello all, Would like to swap for a 4x10. Haven't got anything in mind so PM me and we'll chat. I'm happy to listen to offers and would be perfectly happy with an old Peavey or something plus some cash. So this is an Orange SP210 cab. The speakers are mounted one behind the other and are coupled. According to the blurb, this means that the SP210 kicks out more bass than a cab of a similar size. I could well agree with that. This cab is capable of some serious bass; I have to cut a lot of bass from the amp to avoid flooding the stage with the real low frequencies! Can also go very loud. The original speakers have been replaced with similarly powered and sounding 350w Eminence Deltas so rated 700w at 8ohms. I'd say the SP210 lends itself well to a traditional bass tone and sounds wonderful with my PF350. It's tiny. Seriously small! Quite heavy but an easy one handed carry. Its in good condition, theres a couple of very small nicks in the tolex which is all the damage I can see. Two speakons only in the back. Would keep because I'm happy with the sound but I'm really hankering for more speakers and I can't afford another SP210 to go with it! I'm Based in St. Albans and happy to drive to meet for the right deal. Anyone is welcome to come and try the cab out but would need to arrange in advance as we have a 6 month old in the house! aaronjenks
Are these not 600w?
Truckstop
Happy to ship if you don't mind paying for it! Yes, normally 600w but have replaced original Orange speakers with 350w Eminence Deltas. One of the originals had been blown by its previous owner. I contacted Orange (they're based in Borehamwood, a few miles away from me) and they recommended the Deltas as the best replacement. I've still got the original working Orange driver that'll I'll stick in a project cab one day. Cheers! Alex
aaronjenks
Oh so what is that watt now? With my terror 500 will it be enough for small to medium gigs? Could I blow it?
Truckstop
With a Terror, it'd be more than loud enough for small to medium size gigs, not to mention perfectly matched! Many basschatters use the Terror/SP210 or 212 rig and are very happy indeed. Theoretically speaking you'd expect to be able to run a 500w amp at full volume through a 700w cab without damage but it doesn't work like that unfortunately. There's always danger with any amp through any cab of causing over-excursion. You would hear the speakers complaining before you got too loud to damage anything. I've put a PF500 through it at almost full volume without any problems (at 8ohms, the PF500 chucks out 350w). Mind you, I do cut the bass quite a lot which improves efficiency. Hope this helps?
