A set of 3/4 size Spiro Mittels in generally good but not excellent condition (typically for these strings, there is some fray/silk damage especially at the peg end from fitting and removal - however the playing area of the strings is in excellent shape and these have years of life in them). Will sell for [b]£50 posted[/b][/s]GONE 2. A set of 3/4 Spiro MIttels that I bought recently off BassChat for which the silks are frayed but strings otherwise good with years of life on ADG (better condition in fact than the set above); the E though has some breaks in the metal windings around the B (which are rough enough to catch on the finger and buzz on the board) and is to be frank only worth keeping as an emergency backup. So effectively this is a three-quarter set with a dodgy E. I think I paid £45 for the lot and I will sell for [b]£40 posted[/b]. Set with damaged E still available - note the damage could be worked around by twisting the string so that the area of slightly raised metal winding faces the G side - that way it won't impact the board or your left hand. The BCer that sold me the strings (Dr Phibes) told me that he had the string positioned so that the damage didn't impact his playing or sound. Clarky Posted January 28, 2013 Author Share Posted January 28, 2013 NB, I just checked the web and the best prices I can find for Spiro 3/4 ADG are at alangregory.co.uk (Thomann doesn't have all the individual strings) and the G/D/A prices are (to the nearest pound) £28, £30, and £33. Combined thats £91! So £40 for all three in pretty good nick plus a sort-of-usable E is very good value in my opinion. Just sayin'! I had the E strung with no fret buzz or interference with my playing style, not uncomfortable or rough under my fingers. Sadly, the same strings buzzed on Clarky's bass.
