Phil-osopher10 Posted December 17, 2012 Share Posted December 17, 2012 So I recently bought another mesa walkabout amp. I must admit I am a bit of a fan. So I was all lined up to play it on sunday but thought I should bring my other as a back up just encase. well the inevitable happened the new one stopped working. No probs I just changed them over. What happened? With the power light still running the sound cut out to both cab and the di. I noticed the preamp valves were almost glowing white (compared with my other which is more of a slight red-ness at the bottom) How do I fix it? Do I need valves? could it be something more sinister? MarkBassChat Posted December 17, 2012 Share Posted December 17, 2012 If the valves were glowing white, this may e a problem with the power supply. New valves will not solve it. Is the amp switched properly to 230V,or by mistake it is switched to 120V? But in this case it would most probably blow the fuses. I think the amp needs a tech. wateroftyne Posted December 17, 2012 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Does it have an FX bypass switch? If so, bypass it. If not, shove jacks in and out of the FX send and return.
