It really pains me to put this up for sale, but unfortunately I just need to free up some cash somewhere what with the time of year and unexpected bills and such and it's this or my jazz, which holds too much sentimental value for me to be able to move on. I'm half-hoping it doesn't sell really, but not sure what I'll do if it doesn't.

Anyway... this is a stunning bass. It's made in Germany in 2009, which as I understand it is the last year they made them in Germany before outsourcing production to Korea with the ProSeries basses. I also understand that it's the first year since the mid-90's they were made with the much nicer (in my opinion) slim necks. Consequently it's a fantastic condition (really can't find any blemishes on the bass at all) German-made Warwick Corvette with a slim neck - a bit of a rarity really.

The bass has a solid bubinga body, ovangkol neck, and wenge fingerboard (the Warwick trademark woods really). It's got the MEC jazz pickups and 2-band EQ (bass/treble boost/cut). It was set-up recently by Chris McIntyre (formerly of the Bass Gallery in London) and really is a joy to play. Sweet low action and just great to play across the board. The German build quality really shows on this bass - some say the Korean made Corvettes aren't of the same standard... I can't pass judgement as I haven't played one, but I do know that this is an outstanding piece of kit, at least on a par with any of the basses by Fender, EBMM, Spector etc which I've owned in the past (and usually went for a lot more money).

It's also a real looker as I'm sure you can see in the photos (the grain on the wood has to be seen really, but I've tried my best to photograph it). The amount of comments I get from people who normally wouldn't even give anything to do with the bass player a second glance about how nice this thing looks speaks for itself really.

Here are the photos:

And for those curious about the tones it can produce, here's a video I did a few weeks ago comparing the sounds of this bass to my jazz bass:

Also included is an aftermarket hard-case and the original user guide with allen keys, Warwick beeswax etc. Pick-up from Leeds preferred but I'm happy to ship if you're too far away. Looking for £550 for this one.

Cheers

Hiya
you've done a good comparison job there. I often do this with my basses but you've managed with 'Fresh Rotosounds' on both. May I ask which Rotos they are? Swing bass have the red winding so I don't recognise yours. I prefer you on the Corvette but it's just another opinion!
all the best, joe

Hi Joe... thanks! They're 40-100 gauge nickel rotosound roundwounds. I don't know the specific name, this is the box they come in:

I've been using these specific strings for a few years... love the feel and sound. As I understand they're the same as the standard Rotosound Swing Bass strings, just a little cheaper for the lack of the red winding at the ends which is supposed to keep them in tune better, but I never find any problems with tuning on a decent bass without them and I prefer the appearance of the plain ends. Plus being a little cheaper helps given how often I like to swap my strings.
Cheers
