Classic Speaker Trades/Exchanges..

Recommended Posts

I've got some classic speakers but they're all a bit mis-matched so I was hoping maybe someone has a similar unit and we could do an exchange..?

Ideally, I'm after getting rid of the Jensen and exchanging it for either another EV SP12 or another EVM-15L although I'm open to offers to trades. I'm not really wanting to sell any of the drive units outright although everything has it's price.

Anyways, these are the speakers. They're all in good working order with no issues.

This is a 15" Electro Voice EVM-15L. I know it doesn't look like one but it is and I have documentation that supports my claim. Originally it was an original spec 60w SRO-15L but blew many years back and was re-coned as an EVM-15L in 1980 by a company down south. It's probably the old spec EVM-15L which was rated for 200w rather than the later spec'd series two or Proline models which boast 400w. I believe it's never been used and has sat in it's box for the last 30 years.

My old Alnico Jensen that I've only ever used to make sure it works. It has the American 'Radio Shack' sticker on the back but the frame and magnet are unmistakably Jensen. The driver has the old-school metal dust cap which might make it good for the lap-steel type sound.

Alnico Jensen
12"
20w (a guestimate)
8 ohms (if I remember correctly but will double check)

Classic dual-concentric driver from the early 1960s. The alnico magnet on this beast weighs a ton and the over built theme runs right through all aspects of this unit. Apparently they were designed more as a hi-fi / reference speaker rather than a guitar or bass application. This speaker is highly efficient with a clean and smooth extended response up to 13kHz. Gotta love those old whizzer cones!

EV SP12
12"
15w / 30w / 60w (EV spec'd a number of ratings on this driver)
8 ohms.

Any comments or ideas for exchange are welcome.

Cheers! B)
