early 50s P bass neck pocket

it's an all parts neck and guitarbuild body, surely they should fit?

neck is 25mm at the heel, pocket is 15mm so neck is 10mm proud, can anyone confirm this is right/wrong?

I think it's fine... don't forget there will be a pickguard on top of it. Normally the top of the pickguard should be halfway the nut of the trussrod...

with the pickguard on it's almost halfway, but how come i cant get the strings off the fingerboard with the saddles as high as they will go and the truss rod almost loose? maybe need some shims?

i cant seem to get any relief in this neck and the truss rod is as slack as it can go, i need some bow in it, does it take a while after stringing?

The problem I've got with my Warlock is that the fretboard is only 5mm proud of the body and with the bridge set at it's lowest the action is twice as high as I'd like. I checked my other Basses and they tend to have the fretboards around 10mm proud, which works better.
