I am after strings that are suitable for down tuning like the DR DDT's, but that are flatwound/grounwound or nylon wound. I play long scale 4 string in CGCF and currently I am using Fender nylons on my Peavey Cirrus. They suit me well and do the job, but I am expecting an addition to the family and want to try something even nicer. What is the most ideal string for my requirements? Matt P Posted May 22, 2012 Share Posted May 22, 2012 i'd go for a 5 string set of flatwounds and ditch the thinnest string, i've gone for the overwater ones for my 5-er, (apparently made by picato) i think they're jolly nice and they're about as cheap as you'll find for flatwounds, they sound good and are lovely and smooth under the fingers.
