Light Weight Practice Amp With a Growl?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a light weight combo amp that I can use in the house. I've got a GK 700 210 and I like the low growl I can get out of it. Is there any smaller, easier on my back, maybe 10 or 12 inch speaker combo amps that can sound kind of 'overdriven' or that will kind of 'growl' without blasting everyone out of our tiny house? It seems that when you turn most amps down, the tone goes away as well. I don't need the bright, slapping kind of tone, just some nice deep low end for my 70' P bass. Thanks for any replies, I know this has been asked a million times...

I had a Marshall MB15, 15 watts, 8 inch speaker (they do an MB30 at 30 watts, 10 inch speaker), which has two channels, Modern & Classic. The Classic has a Gain control, so will reproduce these types of tones. Not a bad little amp at all. Very tubelike tones from the Classic channel.

My current Ampeg BA108 (25 watts, 8 inch speaker) produces the classic Ampeg sound, but I`m not sure if this will have enough of the "growl" that you`re after. Great sounding amp though.
