Why is the wiring in guitars always soldered, is there a reason not to use spade connectors? Just seems that it would make changing pups an pots much easier. Anyone know? Thanks all. tommorichards Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) well, emg do use spade type connectors when connecting to pickups and pots, but i think that soldering is the easiest way to go about it without the need for more stuff than a soldering iron and solder which gives a good connection. I'm more used to auto electrics, where you can solder, use connectors or even just twist them together. I thought there might be a solid reason not to use connectors, I find them very handy to use, and of course really easy to disconnect. Cheers. Only EMG as far as I know, have the modular connects. The issue would be getting all the guitar manufacturers all to agree together and adopt a standard for the pups and pots, then we'd save up to £2.65 a month on solder.
