paul_5 Posted October 9, 2011 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Hi all, I'm looking at replacing the neck on my Blade B15 with a Fender 5 string neck that I bought from here last month. The Fender will fit into the neck cavity, but is about 1 inch longer. I'm planning to move the bridge back enough to get the intonation right and then benefit from the extended fingerboard and scale length (certainly on the Low . That's the theory anyway.- Anything I should be aware of before I commit to the work? I'm having a luthier friend look over everything this week, but I'd rather go in there with a bit more knowledge than I currently have. Cheers, Paul. Ou7shined Posted October 9, 2011 Share Posted October 9, 2011 You'd be far better off routing the body (neck pocket) to accept the longer neck. That way your pups remain in the harmonically correctly positioned in relation to the bridge and nut. By moving the bridge [b]forward[/b] (not back) as you suggest you will change the tonal characteristics of the bass quite dramatically.
