Pre-2008, it USED to be a series/parallel switch, and one selection also gave you the bridge coil of the humbucker. The newer 2008 onwards Ray 5s are now different. There are schematic on their website, Basically, I don't think you get the option of a single coil at all on them, you only get that on a Stingray 5 HS....or if you go for a Sterling 4 or 5 instead.
