I've seen a few available but thought i'd check on here first as i'm not much of a techy. Basically want to rip some drum tracks etc for practise and recording. Any info very welcome. cheers Al. mike257 Posted September 27, 2011 Share Posted September 27, 2011 No experience of them directly, although I find it hard to see how it's going to take a stereo mix of a load of polyphonic instruments and extract any sensible MIDI data from them. I would think that the best you'll get is an approximation of the most prominent tones/percussive attacks that you will have to edit yourself afterwards to bring it into line with the source material. I've just been and read a couple of the websites offering these tools, and they do state you'll need to edit the results yourself. A solo line can work [sometimes] Also a solo Percussion line can work [Shaker/hats/Kicks etc] Just get hold of some Drum Midi files [as said above], or even Drum Audio loops and chop them up.
