Ken smith preamp

i know what you mean i played your bass my teacher now have it i bought it for him but my point is

i have fbass ok and i use it to passive, will i get that distinct same sound of the ken smith that what i like ? i know of course that i have to try it in order to get it but here in greece is not available :)

The sound is probably a combination of the (Kent Armstrong designed?) pickups, wiring choices (parallel humbuckers) and the preamp. On a quick look..that looks like an expensive box for what it does (preamp and headphone amp) and there are many other options for less money.
