Fender jazz - hum problem

I've got a 2008 mexican jazz, fitted some sjb3 pickups bridge and neck, wired them in the way the diagram shows but there is a massive hum everywhere, if I touch the input, bridge and tone pot it makes the hum dim slightly but never makes it go away. If I touch either of the volume pots it either squeals or makes the hum a lot louder, the pick ups to seem to be working but haven't had the strings on yet. I've re-soldered it many a time and tried taking earths out and adding new ones and now I'm stumped.

Any ideas??

HELP PLEASE :)

I used the standard seymour duncan jazz diagram. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...c=std_jazz_bass And no I don't have spare parts :/ I'll put the old pickups back in and see if it makes a difference... because the new pickups are a lot higher output... will this make any difference?

No, the pickup output level won't cause this.
The diagram is bog standard/tried and tested so as long as you've wired it exactly as shown it'll work fine.

But (and this is a good 'but'!) if the pots aren't earthed to their casings, and each other, properly you are going to get major hum problems.

(Apologies if you are already familiar with this next bit, but it's worth mentioning.)
Soldering the 'third' contact of the pot to the casing can be tricky.
You need to scrape or sandpaper the pot casing wherever you intend to solder - pot casings are often tarnished\laquered and this will stop a good solder joint being made.

The other thing to check is that you have definately got the jack socket connected the right way round.

Sounds to me like an earthing problem or possibly the input wired up wrong. The SD wiring diagrams are usually spot on so it should be right, but it would be worth cross-checking against other diagrams for the same configuration on the net.

I would do a google search as my Jazz gave problems when I changed pickups, I just reversed the wiring on one and all was fine, when both pup's are selected they should act like a Humbucker too.

Or have you dropped a bit of solder into the pot itself?.

Just for a start, have you checked the earth wire from the bridge? Not only its' connection to the pots but also whether it's actually connecting with the bridge itself. After that, it's surprising how bad it can sound with just one wire soldered in the wrong place, so triple check everything.
