1. Yup I was looking at one to buy new before I get the fender and in all honesty I think I'd use it more than any jazz or precision I would have maybe got. I did have one contact offer a EBMM stingray but for some reason I go no message back.

Still I think this topic is still valid when you do a simple bass trade search there's a few that seem to end in a no deal. But also this topic suggests that the write description for any bass will help it along.

  2.
Can you not hear the nerve-jangling BLIP! sound that comes around every bar when he's slapping? Or are unpleasant noises like that acceptable because he's a good bass player and he's playing slap and what's a regular battery of annoying loud noises between connoiseurs...
that sound is annoying, and sound it is.

I refuse to watch stuff like this, I don't need to dishearten myself.

A lot of beginners will see it and think that they are crap and will never be that good. Like when our singers brothers band watches me play and are amazed and think that they are crap themselves, all I'm doing is playing inside chords and scales and to a steady groove, it's nothing difficult.

No doubt he is a good player, and no doubt he knows it but I dontt think he needs his ego boosting anymore.
All though it's always nce to year praise for your hard work practising.

  3. Well the orange is very light and has it's own gig bag.

If money is no option a shuttle 9.0 should be good. Otherwise ashdown LGs and the superfly are pretty tiny but i doubt they'll have the typical transparant valve pre amp sound, and if that was me I'd put either the para driver or the bass driver infront of it, or even the VT bass pedal, but you don't want pedals.

  4. The OBC 115 is rated 400 watt, so I doubt you could over power it with AD200 at half volume.

I agree that you'd get more out of it with a second cab. And if I was you the only cab I'd want to change to is one of the better 1x15 ampegs or a barefaced compact.

  5. Probably be helpful to know the price he gave you for it, the price you paid for it, and how 'unplayable' it is. It might just need a good setup, but don't tell him that.

if indeed it is 'unplayable' and most probably damaged then it should be worth a lot less than what you sold it for, but I would definatly snap it up.

Taken a newish used US standard jazz price of up to 650, and depending how used it is, just be cheecky and offer as little as possible.

  6. I see mr. Foxens point.

Part of the reason I go for fender is the history.

I think there is a diffinate trend of squier VMs and CVs right now, just stupidly cheap for how
    good they are.

But maybe soon 80s fenders will become trade then I'll regretting this trade lol.

  7. After changing the description a lot, I had a bit more interest, but maybe Monday night blues kicked in in a lot people.

I guess I was expecting it to walk away as even my guitar teacher hasn't seen one ever, and he's been playing 43 years and has some serious kit at his home.

Although have since been offered something I'm very very interested in so hopefully all will go well.

  8. I think the 80s power jazz looks awesome , a lot better than the duff signature model, maybe it's the contours around the horn recession, take a look in my sig for my trade thread for a picture I'll try and get one posted in here too.
Yeah it's a genuinely interesting Fender man. There'll be a market for it, maybe even some people who'd pay top dollar for it.

Fender made some heinous mistakes in their time, stuff like the P-Bass Lyte, but these white '80s spesh models with their hair metal roots were at least used by people so they've got history. I have to be honest though until today I didn't even know this one existed and I've been playing bass since 1989.
9. Ok Ill try and shorten it, I do tend to faffle a lot of nonsense :/

As far as I'm aware it was released before the duff spesh, it is a strange beast though.

Edit. As far as I know the power special came with the fender tbx control and not a standard tone control.

  10. I've always pretty much gone for that sort of EQ setting, but I always forget I'm right next my rig and it sounds aweful but once you get best part of 10 feet away you start to hear it properly
for now I'm enjoying the OTB's and compact flat EQ tone, maybe just a touch of bass cut to add clearity.

  11. Some funny replies.

I've tried flats before, I did like the overall sound but found them slightly stick and not as fast as rounds, I also missed the growls from sliding, which I do too much.

I've since strung my spare bass with a set played it a bit, tuned it a half step higher played and strathed an taken them off and just trying to let them get the air. Hopefully we will see how much it works.

I don't tend to notice that high zing new news have when playing with the band as the guitars generally cancel it out, but it's annoying as he'll when practicing.

Are super slinks a girly gauge? I have doubts on how much bass anything lighter would naturally have.

  12. I've never really traded guitars or basses, but since starting my trade thread for the bass in my sig I'm finding it frustrating.

Probably because it's note a typical bass, I dunno.

I think I'm being very open to trade offers, but there are some specific basses I would like.

There's enough info, 2 links for further reading. Ton of pics.

Am I doing something wrong? Why haven't I got any feedback especially with the topic views so high?

I would link but I'm using my phone.

    Stephen.

  13. Maybe a weekend 4 weeks from now.

Weekend as a lot of people like me won't have college or work anyway and 4 weeks as it's enough time to garner extra interest and if you do need to book it off as a holiday day then usually your employer requires an advance notice of 4 weeks.
