3.
Howdy Basschums..on behalf of a good friend of mine I still have for sale this JV Squier Jazz Bass. I looked up 21 frets for a date and and it comes out to may/june 1983. serial JV5****.pic of serial availiable on request. The bass is original save for the scratchplate, the knobs and the pickups (and wiring)which are Sadowsky .The scratchplate is mint/snot green, the knobs chrome and the pickups to me sound lovely.all electrics working,I checked the truss rod gently and it works both ways.there is an earthing strip running from the bridge pickup to under the bridge,I'm sure this could be removed and replaced in the more conventional way.there is very little wear on the frets, the nut is fine and the reverse tuners are smooth and positive..the number on the bottom of the neck heel to me looks to be 65 EX then ,T and in pencil just below the truss rod adjustment screw it looks like 6 7 and either R or B.The neck pocket has 6 V stamped inside it..the back and the bottom edges are pitted a bit as you'd expect and there are a few wee dings on the lower side edge front ? and a chip at the strap button on the upper horn..there is a strapbutton on the backof the headstock. The back of the neck is lovely and smooth and has that old worn sweated into feel and appearance.i.e.looks dirty! the bass has been well played and well looked after. It's instantly playable,I haven't set it up as I'ts not for me .The price is now £525 inc postage/insurance.there is no case tho it will be extremely well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box.(or if you live in Scotland you are welcome to meet/collect) although this is not all original,it is a pure treasure of a bass ,I have a 75 usa jazz and this JV is a whole heap friendlier to play and nicer weight.I've been playing this and really loving it,I am however in possesion of enuff basses. pleased to answer any questions or supply extra pics if you are interested. cheers for now.A.F. p.s. have been trying and can't manage to upload any pics..if you search the for basses for sale section tho you'll find them with previous ad...sub topic is belter of a bass.cheers haa, compressed pics and now they fit.cheers
last bump !
 4.
Hi,I'm also selling this lovely playing bass with hard flightcase and strap. Its a series 3000,3 piece mahogany and graphite neck, not sure whichyear .maybe someone can enlighten me. in the photos you'll notice the small cracks where the neck screws to the body,I don't fix guitars but this doesn't compromise the bass though would probably best get someone to have a look at unless you are handy with repairs.there is also a wee chip at the top near the nut and another on the horn.see attached pics. other than these points all is good with the bass.in view of the faults am looking for £420 plus postage.(or can be collected if you live near Fife) let me know if you'd like any more pics/info cheers for looking.Eth. sorry if pics are wee, can't quite get the hang o'this. now £400 plus postage
swap for white precision with black scratchplate.cheers.

 11.
They made these basses from approx 88-89 to 90-91. It was succeeded by the 4000 which was the same but had a composite body instead of cherry, walnut or mahogany. I bought one new in April 1989 and it was serial number 053 (it was walnut). Great basses. Useless information-the active circuit has a preset eq like a gull wing graphic curve and the tone control actually cuts treble. The tone control is passive and gives the best of both worlds from a Jaco type muted sound to a bright slap sound from one control. I'm missing mine now so bye.
thanks for the information,I always liked the sound of status basses, just can't get into the feel of them.I don't have any guide as to price to ask,I know its not really relevant but can you remember what you paid in 89? cheers.
