  1. This Reverend bass is an absolute tone monster and one of the best examples of a PJ available today.

I have really enjoyed playing it but since moving to a short scale Reverend, it just doesn't get enough use.

Midnight black with cream binding and roasted maple fretboard gives it a classy, timeless look.

There are also lots of nice little details including a custom 6 bolt neck plate and jack socket.

For a passive bass, the pickups deliver a huge sound, whether solo'ed or blended. The blend knob offers lots of versatility.

Fit and finish is excellent and the bass feels really solid.

Satin neck; 42mm nut width; weighs approx 8.4lbs (need to confirm)

The bass is in very good condition. There is some light scratching on the pickguard as you would expect. There are also three scratches on the back giving it a little buckle rash mojo :)

Comes with all the case candy.

No case included in the sale.

Not interested in any trades thanks. Cash only please.

For anyone in NI, you are welcome to try it out before purchasing.

Happy to ship to UK buyers, at the buyer's expense

Lobster's review - he liked it a lot!

    The official blurb:

The Decision P bass is Reverend’s take on the versatile “PJ” set up. Two distinctly different pickups harnessed to a pickup pan control that allows you to go from funk to thump and all points in-between with the twist of one knob, the Reverend Decision P is very versatile! Now sporting a gorgeous Roasted Maple neck with Walnut strips, the Decision has a neck worthy of a bass costing several times more.

A well balanced solid Korina body finished in Midnight Black gives this bass great stage appeal. The sturdy bridge can be strung through body or top loaded. Hipshot Ultralight tuners made of aircraft grade aluminium make them extra-light. The difference in weight can be as much as 2-3oz less in the headstock, which means a more balanced bass that’s more comfortable to play. And the tone is great! The bass is more defined and enhanced with the Hipshot Ultralites.

  2. I see Reverend has released some new colours for the Decision P today. Nothing new yet for the Triad or Mercalli. Bit disappointed no new models were released but pleased none of the new colours call out to me :)

@Maude is right about Robert Smith not straining his voice being why he still sounds so good.

Possibly, but you have to admire the range and styles in sings in, while playing guitar for most of a two and half hour set, with changes to the set list every night of a 46 date tour. He is one talented guy!

Interesting article here on the logistics of the current tour. Particularly liked the bit about not doing dress rehearsals :0

  4. Saw The Cure in Belfast last night and it was a great show. I found it uncanny how RS's voice hasn't seemed to have aged much and he sounded fantastic.

Of course, of most interest was Simon Gallup's bass sound. It was huge...and for many songs, really grindy and dirty sounding. Like, really gnarly!

The sound quality was good and for some songs like Disintegration, by design. merged into a really powerful wall of sound.

The set was pretty uncompromising for the casual fan (i.e. the thousands who seemed to be there just for Friday, I'm...), with several classics from their back catalogue and a few new ones as well, some of which were more memorable than others. Too many highlights to list but At Night, Burn, A Strange Day, Push and of course, A Forest were superb.

If you get a chance, check them out.

  5. I had a similar experience recently with returning a Harley Benton wireless guitar system. I followed the returns instructions, made the 12 mile round trip to my nearest drop off point, only to be told by the news agent, they haven't been returning DHL parcels for a couple of years. After a lot of faffing and emails to Thomann, I did find another drop off point, this time a 30 mile round trip and it was a fingers crossed type scenario as the shop keeper told me that sometimes the item scans successfully  and gets into the DHL system but most often it doesn't! Incredible that a company operates like this. Anyway, after about 6 weeks I got my money back. I was tempted to keep the item after the first failed attempt but the amount of hiss and loss of tone meant it useless and had to go back. Bottom line for me - if I need any gear  in the future, order from somewhere else.

  6. Guitar Guitar have a purple Triad in stock; in the past Andertons and Peach both carried a limited range Reverend basses. I got my Mercalli from Andertons a couple of years ago but the less said about that experience the better! Glad to say the bass exceeded my expectations and was worth the wait.

  7. I have both a Mercalli and Decision P. You're right in describing the Merc as tamer, although personally, of the two, I prefer it. The pickups in the Decision are much hotter but both offer a wide range of tones with the pan control. I don't think you can wrong with any Reverends. Enjoy the new bass. It looks great.
