2. ****THIS IS NOW DEFINATELY FOR SALE**** I've came to the conclusion that a 1x15 does not suit my sound and therefore i am looking to shift this on to raise funds to by a new cab. I bought this Ampeg SVT 1x15 Classic American Made on here from Kingbee. 200watts/8ohm, 123db SPL, frequency range: 51Hz-3kHz. Weight: 33kg. I got it in immaculate condition from Kingbee and it is still in immaculate condition. Comes with vinyl cover(also in immaculate condition) I have done a few deals on here, so look at my feedback thread for references. looking for £200 plus buyer arranges/pays for shipping or pick is welcome. I'm in Central Scotland All the best ES
 3. Guys this is just a feeler at the moment. I've came to the conclusion that a 1x15 does not suit my sound so i am now looking into the possibility of getting a 4x10. I bought the Ampeg SVT 1x15 Classic on here from Kingbee. its pretty much in immaculate condition. It also comes with custom made vinyl cover, also in great condition. I shall add pics later. Not interested in sales at the minute as my band are pretty busy with gigs so i would need something to come my way pretty quickly so just looking at the possibility of trades, although i wont be too disapointed if this doesnt go as its a cracking cab. Cheers ES
 4.
If you understand the natures of cutoff and resonance and how they interact then you'll understand that if you set the cutoff in a midrange position and boost the resonance you'll get a peak that'll accentuate a midpoint in the EQ spectrum. The problem is, you'd then want to turn the overall level down so the peak doesn't clip everything. The problem with this is you'll lose the bass and low mid and all the interesting part of the sound. You could use a clean blend (which would be running the filter in parallel) to get the rest of the sound back, but then you might as well just go Octaver>EQ instead of doing stupid complicated things with a filter. Ask any questions and we'll try and answer them. Dan
Cool, thanks for clearing that up, Think this is the route i will go down, just need to get hold of an oc-2 as the other guys seem to think this is the one to go for. Thanks for all the help. ES
 5.
I'd also try running (in parallel) either a bandpass or a lowpass with a high resonance to get the mid-bump. TBH an EQ pedal in parallel would also do the job. I've used an M13 to get the FM/PWM/trianglewave thing that I've run in parallel to a sub to get that too. In fact, in preparation for a recent recording session I recreated a sound that's very similar to this but with a filthy, reece-y, squarewave on top. Yikes! Dan
sounds great, but i inly understood about 1% of that so, a lowpass filter with a high resonance?

 10.
If you have an active bass make sure you get a STEREO plug, *not* a mono one which is in the ebay link. A stereo plug has 3 pins - for the mono jack, 2 of the pins are signal and ground. The 3rd pin on the stereo jack is used to turn the active electronics on and off! Look at the pin you've got - there should be three wires (or if there are more, at least there should be 3 points of connection on the jack). A mono plug should be ok for passive basses but not for active ones, if you get a mono plug you will have to wire the electronics to be always on - which is obviously disastrous for battery life. FWIW I got the stereo version of the switchcraft jack and it works just fine in my active Bass Collection.
Don't know if you have solved this or not, It does semm to be a common problem with Ibanez's. I had to replaced the input jack on My Ibanez 400, it has a barrel jack also. i got a Stereo jack from maplin for about 2.50 and it works brilliantly. ES
 11.
Note that it won't really be the extra wattage from the amp (due to the 4 ohm nominal load) that makes things louder when you add a second cab, it'll be the increased sensitivity (3dB more) and the increased excursion-limited power handling (another 3dB), so if you were running out of clean lows with just the one cab you'll get 6dB more of them with two. And 6dB more is quite a lot louder - in the bass region at typical loudness it equates to almost twice as loud, due to the way our ears work. So to recap - you're not louder because you have 200W instead of 140W, you're louder because you have twice as much 'speakerage'!
hey man, thanks for the input, i have actually been reading similar stuff to that on your Barefaced website. Thanks, ES
 12.
Either will work and give you 4 ohms
cheers guys thats clarified for me! All the best ES
 13. thanks man, just needed to check. so my amp has two 8 ohm outputs on the back so i just connect each 8ohm cab into these outputs to get 4ohms or daisychain just the 2 cabs together? thanks for your time ES
 14. Right i think i may be being a little stupid here... but here goes. my amp is 200 watts into 4 ohms. i have an ampeg cab rated at 8 ohms so the output from the amp is only 120 in to the cab. it is my understanding from reading the net that if i get another cab rated at 8 ohms and run it in PARALLEL i will be able to get the maximum power out of my amp, i.e 4 ohms? is this correct or just plain stupid? thanks ES
 15. always welcome at gigs mate! i've fired you across an email with a few tunes on it
