The DB212 is my favourite bass cabinet. I've tried a lot. It's glorious!

Interesting! How do you find the weight/portability (i.e. will do myself a hernia carrying it up to my 3rd floor apartment?!). I see some 212 users saying they wish they'd opted for the modular 2 x 112 for transporting.

I use the 410 with a DB751 head, quality thump out of that setup!

I love the DB 751, but unfortunately portability is more of a consideration for the domestic gigs! The STM 900 is in the ballpark though for a class D, so could maybe work well with the DB 410 also!

Cheers for the info so far! Any other experiences?

  2. Hey all!

I am changing up my rig soon, and am trying to decide between the above cabinet configs. Does anybody have any experience of pairing the Genz Benz Streamliner 900 with any of these set ups? I was initially thinking the 2 x112 stack, but have read that the 212 cab is a little tighter in the low end which could be useful for this particular head.

Thanks for any info or insights!

There are so many flavours of great for 1x12 bass cabs now. I've no extensive experience of either, but there are plenty of other options out there too. Pays your money and takes your choice!

Do you already have the BF? Get another if you like it but want 'more', move it on if you want something different, is the general consensus.

Yes I currently have the Barefaced but fancy a change and abusing my Aguilar artist deal :P So maybe the next question would be how would the 2 x SL 112 stack compare to the single Big Baby T?! Thanks for the thoughts so far.

  4. Apologies, I should have elaborated. My logic was that a single BBT would do a better job for smaller gigs over a single SL 112 (given the suggested 450 watt over 250 watt difference, although I realise these figures aren't a measured indicator).

Pairing two dissimilar cabs is unlikely to work well. Keep the one you prefer and get a second one; sell the other cab.

    Is due to phase issues?

  5. Cheers all, and for the detailed answer Ratman, that really helps a lot! I'm now edging more towards the COG pedals, and just received a lot of good info from Tom himself. I prefer the smaller footprint of the Darklighter & original Knightfall, but which one to go fo?! I'd somehow missed the Xotic BB Preamp in my search, that also looks great with a lot of tonal options.

    Hmm...decisions decisions!

  6. Hi folks,

I'm currently on the hunt for an overdrive pedal to add some tube grind for certain tracks, and have narrowed the search down to these 4:

SolidGoldFX Beta: Probably my favourite so far from what I've heard/read. My only hesitation is that the baked-in bass boost might be too muddy when used with my Genz Benz Streamliner head.

COG Darklighter: COG have a great following on BC, although the Knightfall might be more saturation than I need. I like the description of the Darklighter, but there are no bass clips available to hear it in action.

Darklgass VMT: Gets a lot of love but may be too pricey for all that I'll be using it.

Aguilar Agro: Love Aguilar gear, but some users comment on the loss of low end. Can this get a warm tube overdrive tone?
Thanks for any thoughts/experiences you can share!

  7. Hey all,

Bought my cab at the start of the year & the original feet fell of after a few weeks of use (delicately placing it in the boot of a car!). I have been sent thicker screws and a few have fallen off again! Just wondering if anyone has any advice on a more permanent fix/upgrade to the cab feet?

    Thanks!

  8. Sewing it shut up to the tear sounds like a good idea. The only problem with fixing the zip is that it looks like I can't get in to the good end of the zipper to pry it out & try and get the sliders on both rows of teeth (hope that makes sense!)! It's pretty securely sealed in to the material of the outside & inside of the pocket! Hmmm.. :scratch_one-s_head:
