  1. I currently use 2 x Euro 5LX with standard EMG 40 DC (soapbars) and Tonepump, i run these through an Ashdown Little giant (1000Watt) and 8x10 ABM 1200Watt cab...with a tweak of the old MXR M80. This gives me an eye watering thunderous sound....Happy days!

However, when i introduce my Euro 4LX to this set up, the sound from the PJ (EMG pups and Tonepump) set up is weak and scratchy in comparison to the 5's.

I was fully aware that i would not acheive the same sound when plugging straight into my current set up so planned to use my trusty Boss GE7B EQ pedal. This did not have much of an impact, neither did adding my Hartke bass attack pedal!!

Can anyone give me any pointers on preamp/PJ pup upgrades i could do to possibly overcome this weak and scratchy tone???!!

    Thanks in advance......

  2. It is a splendid finish indeed sir!

I don't know why i keep buying them....i always end up looking for the 5th string.

Bob (Jack) Grant is a personal hero of mine..sophisticted, stylish, debonair, and not forgetting silver tongued devil! :)

  3. Pmsl.....no thanks mate, i'd only end up selling it again!

    Few more pics now added.....

  4. Hi all,

Spector Euro 4LX Ultra Amber in mint condition, no dinks no scratches, no fret wear.

Light home use only, never seen the light of a gig, slight tarnishing to bridge were hand has rested during playing ( which is common to these bridges.)

Bass plays perfectly, no issues with neck or electronics. great action.

Strung with a set of heavy gauge (50, 70, 85, 105) Elixir Nanoweb strings, still with plenty of zing in them.

    Comes with Spector hard case

Exactly like the one in the link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TzqKvFHplw

We've taken the legend of the Aphex Aural Exciter and Big Bottom and placed it firmly at your feet. Aphex Xciter pedals are designed to deliver the sonic enhancement the Aural Exciter and Big Bottom are famous for, taking it out of the studio and onto the stage. The Xciter series of pedals brings out the character and nuance of your instrument without adding volume and distortion.

The 1401 Acoustic Xciter is designed for any acoustic instrument with active or passive pickups. Voicing is clean and open, articulation is clear and crisp, and musicality is dramatically improved.

The 1402 Bass Xciter is ideal for any electric or acoustic/electric bass with piezo or magnetic pickups, whether active or passive. Deep tones ring truer, tone is more sustained, slaps and pops cut through without overpowering.

  7. Could anyone point me in the direction of a few decent power amps please??!!

    Currently dabbling with..

    2 x Ashdown 8x10 ABM cabs 1200watts each
    1x Ashdown MAG 600 R head,
1x Ashdown Little giant 1000watt head (or translated as 2x500watt outputs).

    All at 4ohms.

Would like to use one power amp with 2 x 1000watt outputs at 4ohms as i want to continue using my cabs.

    Thanks in advance.....

  8. I suppose it depends on the individual, personally I like the tonepump it gives me that crunch I need!

I once fitted a EMG BQC system to a euro 4, made it very smooth sounding, sort of took the attack away.

I soon changed it back LOL.

  9. Thanks for the comments guys, it is a great looking euro!
I also have 2 euro fives, one with an amber stain and the other in black. The finish on this 4lx knocks them into next week! Not forgetting it's a lovely big of kit to play too!

    Offers anyone ?!?!

  10. AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!"!!Shortest ownership of a bass ever! Bloody cars! Can't feckin' believe this! Only had this 30 hours or so but gotta' relist it due to wifes car blowing a bloody head gasket! :)
