Hawaiian Islands and the honor of being the most played instrument the world
    over.

It comes with it's own gig bag too!

  2. Hi,
For sale is my Harley Benton B-35NT-FL Acoustic Bass.

    Sold!

It is a deco- see the stamps.

It arrived with a lump on the fret board that caused loads of buzzing and choking of notes.

I've levelled the frettboard off and now it plays well with a low action.

I don't play it, I had visions of doing coffee shop gigs with my Fiancée on piano that have never happened, so its for sale.
    Its collection only because
    A) I would like you to play it/ check it out to be happy its for you
    B) I'm lazy and have no packaging material, its massive and one thump from an courier would be the end of it.

I'm in Doncaster, Mansfield, Huddersfield and Grantham occasionally for work so I could deliver- subject to you paying for it first and being very flexible about when
    it gets delivered.
    Collection very much preferred

    Down points
-There are a couple of D stamps on the back of the neck heel and the back of the head stock.
-There are some scratches on the top front of the body where the sand paper slipped while sorting the fret board. These are unnoticable unless you spin the bass to
catch the light there. See the pictures, both from ~30cm away.
-There is some white paint on the corner of the fretboard from leaning against a painted wall.
    -Some imperfections on the fretboard
-Some marks from the strings on the fretboard
    -Its massive!

    Plus points

    It sold very quickly!

  3. Hi,

After reading about these basses on here I crumbled and bought a 5 string fretless acoustic.

It is cosmetically perfect, but had a bump on the neck which made it unplayable.

After fiddling with the trussrod and getting some advice of the repairs forum I sanded the neck.

Now its ace. It took me about 2 hours to do this with lots of stopping and checking.

Sounds good in the house on its own. Sounded good at practice with my band. It did feedback massively, this was not helped by standing in front of the amp or using distortion pedals.

So If you want one why not? £60 posted and I'm happy with it.

  4. Cheers for the advice. I had not got the neck straight, so your advice has sacred me significant amounts of swearing. I started on 320 grit, then went to 70 when I realised how much there was to remove!

After a lot of sanding, strings back on checking and repeating it's now lovely. Not perfect but I've stopped and will go back to it if it still bothers me.

    A happy ending :-)

  5. Hi,

I have bought my self a Harley Benton fretless acoustic bass. Its lovely, it was cheap (for a reason).

It has an iffy neck. I could send it back, get it fixed but I'm going to fi it my self.

The neck is not flat. It came with the trusrod fully wound on tight a super low action. There were huge buzzes everywhere.

I have slackened off the trussrod and now the buzz is between the 10th and 15th frets. There is a bump/ lump around here.

Before I take some 400 grit sand paper and block to it does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks for any help :)

  6. After a read of the ashdown web site the super fly runs at 500w at 4ohms, not 2. How do i tell how they are wired? I've got a multi meter, just no idea about how to use it to test how they are wired.

The genz does look perfect though if its not possible to switch it up.

    Cheers

  7. Hi,

I could do with a wee bit of help with my amps and cabs.

I'm looking for an amp to run into my pair of 210 8ohm cabs that will be louder than an ashdown superfly or ashdown 300 evo.

Under £350 second hand, small and light- similar size and weight to the superfly amp if possible.

Or, is it possible to turn the pair of 8 ohm cabs into 2ohm cabs with the right speakers? Under £200 for new speakers.

I joined the band and bought an ashdown 210 300 evo combo, it never went quite loud enough so I bought a hartke xl 210 cab to go with it. Its became apparent that the combo was a pain to hump about and the cab was a breeze. So I made a box for the amp, and separated it from the cab. It was easier to shift but the combo/cab was an awkward shape to fit into the car. So I bought another hartke 210. in the mean time i aquired a superfly cab in a trade. It goes to 500w, but only at 2ohms. Its only just loud enough to keep up with my drummer.

We are a 5 peice, 2 guitars, bass, synth, drums, 3 vocals, and we play inde rock originals and covers.

    Cheers

  8. Hi,

I bought an ashdown mag combo purely on the basis of how it sounded. I love it.

    http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=mag&ID=78

It wasn't loud enough on its own so I bought a second hand hartke XL 210.

The combo proved a pain in the back to gig with so I took the amp out and built a box for it which changed the combo from a massive pain in the back to a pain in the back.

I'd like some advice as to what to do with my slightly odd looking rig.

    a) Sell the ashdown as a combo - replace the speaker with another 210 xl, then what to replace the amp with?

    B) Sell the 210 speaker and keep the amp.- Will anyone buy the combo missing the amp out of it?

    c) Sell it all and start again with some thing lighter.

In terms of music its our own inde songs and covers depending on where we play/ if its a paying gig.

    Advice welcome!

  9. Hi,

I've curious- If you have a 5,6, 7 or more string bass- what do you use it for?

I my band (2 guitars, keys, bass, drums 1-3 singers) anything higher than half way up the fret board gets lost in the mix. I use an octaver one octave below, but my amps always sound unhapy with open E and an octaver through them at anything like practice volume.

I've seen some chepish (£300ish) 6 and 7 string basses on ebay from germany and I like the idea but I've no idea what I'd use the extra strings for.

So 4 strings are perfect for me, why are extra high strings perfect for you? Do you play melody lines on them? Solo?

What do you use the lower strings for, and on a 7 string do they normlay come strung with one or two strings below the E?

Its these two that have me curious. The 7 looks like one string below the E- same as the 6.
